For over 12 years now Michael Kelley has been a landmark salon and day spa in Ventura. MK has had an interesting history with its initial roots in the 422 block of Main St. in 1994. MK was there until the fire that destroyed their business along with several others in the fall fire in 1998. After the fire they were forced to quickly relocate to a much smaller location, which they remodeled, and called the MK Salon home until the July 8th 2006 opening of the new business.

Owner, Kelley Gaston, was born and raised successfully in the Ventura community. He and his wife of 13 years, Tara, manage and run this successful Ventura salon. Kelley has over 15 years experience as a hair stylist and successful business owner. Kelley has a unique grasp on the soul of the community and this transcends through the establishment of Michael Kelley Salon & Day Spa.

Kelley Gaston fell in love with the 1895 E. Main St. building which is unique and well known around the community. He purchased the building in July of 2005 and has been refurbishing the building every since.

The New MK Salon is a one-of-a-kind business in Ventura. It is still the hair salon that has created its impeccable reputation for the past 12 years, but also includes a new day spa complete with steam room, Vichy shower and medical spa services. The new MK is the first true medi-spa in Ventura, featuring the services of the well known plastic surgeon and staff Dr. William Starr of Channel Island Plastic Surgery. Some of the medi-spa services that will be offered are botox, collagen and restylane injections, and laser hair removal.

Kelley has tried to offer his clients all the convenience of salon and spas in metropolitan areas.

MK will offer a glass of bubbly or a beer for clients after their long workday and healthy snacks provided by the locally owned Healthy Lotus, along with a quiet courtyard to relax in while checking e-mail.
